A family day out at ZSL London Zoo

The terrible weather at the start of this year, not to mention the arrival of new baby Claudia,  hasn’t seen us venture far from the house much in 2013.  But on Saturday, with the sun shining and the rain just about staying away, we enjoyed a family day out at ZSL London Zoo courtesy of those lovely people at Superbreak, the short break specialists.

It was a much needed day of quality family time and Allegra absolutely loved it, she was such a good girl (more or less!) all day.  Claudia was more interested in sleeping and drinking her milk through the day than checking out the lions and tigers and meerkats, but hey, she is only 12-weeks old, so I guess that’s to be expected.

So while Claudia slept, Allegra, with mummy and daddy in tow…

…visited the big hairy gorillas in the Gorilla Kingdom…

…pretended to be great apes…

bouncy…had a WHOLE lot of FUN on the bouncy castle (in fact, Richmond Daddy had to eventually go on and physically remove Allegra from the bouncy castle as she was NOT going to get off it any other way!).

We checked out the llamas and the camels and the pygmy hippos…

And peered in on the meerkats (the meerkats were particularly a big hit)…

In fact, we spent the whole day there and made it round pretty much the whole zoo!  We saw lions and giraffes (not together!), we visited the fancy-pants new Tiger Kingdom, we strolled through Butterfly Paradise and even got up close to some monkeys!

Not forgetting of course the obligatory trip to the souvenir shop, where Allegra picked herself out a rather apt “Dear Zoo” bag and a sparkly purse, to go with the bag, before we headed home very weary but happy after our fun day out.

Oh, and we drove there and back, which was super easy, but I think somebody might have preferred to have caught the bus…

Thank-you Superbreaks for a fun day out at London Zoo!

If you fancy your own fun day out or indeed short break away from it all, then take a look at Superbreak.com for some great deals.  You can book hotel rooms, theatre tickets, theme park days out, and a whole lot more, or book a package with the whole lot wrapped into one, there are tons of different things to choose from.  You could even decide to make some last-minute plans for this weekend’s May Bank Holiday, and if you do – have fun!

Disclosure:  We were given tickets for entry to ZSL London Zoo in exchange for me writing this review, but all opinions are honest and my own.  It really was a fun day out!

I love comments, so make my day!
