Review: Hevea Panda Teether

Baby Claudia is in the full throes of teething.  She’s just a fraction past the 6-month mark and over the last couple of months teething has ebbed and flowed, but in the last few weeks it cranked up a notch.  So we’ve had one dribbly, red-cheeked, and (from time to time) grouchy baby, who wants to chew, chew, chew, chew, CHEW on anything she can get her hands on and into her mouth.

So the search has been on for a great teether that can satisfy her never-ending need for chomping on something.  Step forward the Hevea Panda Teether…

This multi-award winning teether is made from 100% natural rubber and its malleable texture apparently encourages baby’s natural gnawing action.  It is free from phthalates, colours, PVC & EVAtane, silicone & BPA and its design as a one-piece teether is smart because it means it prevents bacteria from accumulating in cracks and joints.  It also has a gentle textured surface for soothing and massaging irritated gums.

When we first got the teether, Claudia was just a bit too little to really be able to hold onto it and get it into her mouth, although it is suitable from 0+ months.  But now, at 6 months, she has really got into her stride with it and it is easily her favourite thing to chew on.  The shape of the panda is clever in that it seems she finds it easy to hold on to but she can put it in her mouth where the curvy bits are and the shape fits nicely in her mouth for chewing and chomping.

What also appeals to me about the Hevea Panda Teether are its natural and sustainable credentials.  All Hevea products – they have bath toys and dummies as well as teethers – are all made from the natural sap that comes from rubber trees and the rubber is sourced sustainably, and the packaging is FSC certified (guaranteeing the paper comes from responsibly managed forests).
