Allow me to share with you the happy little face of baby Claudia in her Fisher-Price Discover ‘n Grow™ Jumperoo™…
She boings and she bounces, she giggles and she grabs, sometimes I think she might take off and propel herself into orbit, but no, she’s kept safe and snug in her jumping machine, happy as a kangaroo joey on a bouncy castle. That’s one happy bouncing bubba, oh yes!
See those nice people at Fisher-Price have been spoiling Claudia again, after road-testing their bouncy chair and rather lovely cot mobile (which she still is happily falling asleep to night after night, thank you!), next she has been treated to this rather fun contraption and it’s been a godsend in terms of keeping her entertained on a daily basis!
Lights, music, and action! The Fisher-Price Discover ‘n Grow™ Jumperoo™ encourages baby to learn by discovering as their actions make things happen around them. There are colourful toys and fun sounds and music to stimulate baby’s sight and hearing senses; there are toys hanging overhead to encourage reaching and grasping, which helps foster eye-hand coordination; and the jump, jump, jumping Claudia can enjoy safely in the Jumperoo helps develop large motor skills. So it’s not only fun and a place she can independently play and explore, it’s also helping her learn and develop new skills. Most clever.
When it first arrived in the Richmond household, I unpacked it all and thought…. hmmm, should I wait for Richmond Daddy to get home and put it together? – but I decided to give it a stab and actually, I surprised myself by being able to get it set up pretty easily and quickly. So, I can confirm it is easy to put together even if you have limited practical skills like myself!
Once it was ready to go, we faced the first tantrum: Allegra being desperately sad and disappointed that she couldn’t get in and have a jump and play! After firmly persuading her that this really wasn’t a toy she could climb into and have a go (the weight limit is 25 lbs and height limit 32″), we put Claudia in and encouraged Allegra to just help her baby sister discover all the different toys and things to play with, which she did very helpfully.
There’s a monkey to bat at, a roller ball to spin, a teether to grab and chew (which Claudia does, a lot!), a mini piano to poke and jab at, and every time baby jumps there’s music and sounds and lights a-go-go! As someone who’s a little noise sensitive, I must confess there have been times when I’ve had to switch off the music and sound effects (mean mummy!). But that hasn’t hampered Claudia’s enjoyment of the Jumperoo, she still enjoys jumping and bouncing and grabbing and whacking!
The Discover ‘n Grow™ Jumperoo™ has a sturdy, free standing steel-frame, which makes it feel very safe for baby. My only criticism of the frame is that the base part is quite wide and I have tripped over it a few times when rushing around the house as it does take up a fair bit of ground-space in the living room. But, saying that, I really have found it ideal as a place to put Claudia when I need to put her someone where she can’t move (she’s really giving crawling a crack at the moment!) and she’ll be safe, while I make breakfast/lunch/ dinner or dash to the bathroom with Allegra shouting “poo mummy, poooooo!!!” or on those occasions when I might even treat myself with a solo trip to the WC, I know – selfish, right?!
What else can I tell you? – well, the seat pad is machine washable (always handy if you have a slightly pukey/dribbly baby!) and the seat adjusts to three different heights as baby grows, handy. The legs fold for storage and one of the other things I particularly like is that baby sits very comfortably in the seat, which is nicely quite deep.
We have enjoyed road-testing this latest gift from Fisher-Price and would definitely recommend it for anyone with a baby in the house. It is also pretty entertaining watching your baby boing themselves silly…. (apologies for the slightly rubbish filming!):
Available Amazon, Mothercare, and Argos priced approximately £109.99. Fisher-Price has a variety of different baby bouncers available aside from the one I’ve reviewed here, you can view the full range here.
