Review: Their Nibs – Vintage Inspired Children’s Style

Surely one of the loveliest things about having little girls is the opportunity to dress them up in pretty dresses and indulge all their wishes about being a princess… or is that just me?! And there are none so fair as the pretty dresses from vintage inspired children’s fashion label Their Nibs.

Currently celebrating 10 years (congrats!), Their Nibs is a favourite amongst fashion-conscious mammas and papas such as Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Jude Law.  Influenced by Great Britain in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, Their Nibs offers a beautifully crafted alternative to children’s fashion, with bespoke prints, luxury finishings and unique designs.

How lucky are we then that we were sent two gorgeous gorgeous pieces from the Spring/Summer 2013 Collection to dress up in and twirl around the living room:

Allegra was lucky enough to be sent the Ballet Pink Kate Dress, the prettiest of pretty dresses in soft pale pink, accented with creamy/ivory lace detail around the chest and above the hem.  As soon as she had it on, she refused to take it off, she said she felt like Belle from Beauty & The Beast in it and came over all super-girly!

The detailing on the dress is just beautiful and they are clearly so well made and the materials used feel really luxurious:

Claudia’s dress is the Baby Ballet Bow Front dress in pink and what I really loved about this one – apart from the fact she looked super cute in it! – was the beautiful print, which combines ballerinas and swans, and the little detailing like the puff three-quarter length sleeves and bow front detail: so sweet.

I loved how the two of them looked together in their Their Nibs dresses – a sort of matching but not matching feel that was really adorable.

As both the dresses my girls are wearing are from the previous collection (SS13), you’ll be pleased to know – if you’ve fallen in love with them! – that they are now in the sale!  Allegra’s dress, the Kate Chiffon Ballet Dress in pink is down from £79 to £47.40 and you can find it here.  The dress Claudia is wearing, is reduced from £49 to £29.40 and you can find it online here.

Their Nibs has just launched its Autumn Winter 2013 ‘English Heritage’ collection, which reflects upon the inspirational Autumnal English landscape in a series of hand-painted designs including Tapestry floral, Autumnal Robin, Fairytale and Dove prints.  There are gorgeous fabrics from hand-knitted wool to the softest corduroy and velvet, and the overall collection delivers a unique modern take on classic British style for baby, girl, and boy.

The clothes genuinely are beautiful, both for girls and boys, so I do urge you to take a look – especially if you’re looking for something that bit special for a particular occasion.  We are loving our Their Nibs dresses and I think they’ll be worn lots, even if just for twirling around the living room or overdressing for a play-date in place of fancy parties!

Disclosure:  we were sent the two dresses from Their Nibs free of charge for the purposes of this review, but all opinions are honest and our own.
