1-7 November: Claudia at 40 weeks. It feels like a huge milestone, the 40 week mark. Nine months old, almost as long out in the world as she was inside of me (she was born at 41 weeks). My gorgeous girl, getting bigger day by day, week by week, month by month.
The nine-month mark has felt like a big milestone also because it is the age that beautiful blog baby Matilda Mae was when she tragically died of SIDS and the lives of her mummy, daddy, brother, sister and wider family, were turned upside down. A happy, healthy, full-term, breast-fed, gorgeous baby girl, inexplicably taken, at the tender age of 9-months. The cruelty of it, the sadness of it, is something that has weighed heavy on my mind since I heard the news. There are no words…. but our hearts and minds and prayers and love go out to Jennie and her husband and family. We will never forget your Matilda Mae, a baby many of us who have been moved by her death never met, but who has left her mark on the world and on our hearts none-the-less…
… and so it was this week that we pulled on our wellies and walked in honour of Matilda Mae, to raise money for The Lullaby Trust and awareness of SIDS, and to mark 9-months since her death. A very emotional day, but a good day, a day full of love and full of beauty, to remember an adored baby girl and all those other angel babies whose families miss them every minute of every day.
