On Friday, the girls and I took a trip up to the Big Smoke to spend a few hours in the company of those good, clean and perfectly groomed types of Childs Farm – the lovely baby and child toiletries brand that we’ve been fans of ever since we first tried their delicious-smelling shampoo and conditioner on Allegra’s crazy bed-head. They were hosting a special screening party to preview a brand new animation for preschoolers, inspired by the brand and the loveable farm animals that feature on its packaging, which premieres on Cartoonito today (28/07) at 12.30pm.
How amazing is that?! – Childs Farm was founded by mum of two Joanna Jensen when she was searching for the ultimate natural or organic products to deal with her girls fine hair. When she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she decided to make her own and Childs Farm was born – a range of toiletries that are totally natural and contain no nasties. The packaging is as gorgeous as the products and children’s illustrator Emma McCall is the talent responsible for bringing the animals on Joanna’s farm to life with her fantastic drawings and now, not only is Childs Farm stocked in a range of retailers from Boots to John Lewis, it now has its own cartoon series on Cartoonito!
Incredible! Well done Joanna and well done Emma – you two ladies should be feeling very proud of yourselves right now!
We had lots of fun hanging out with Childs Farm.
There was face-painting (ALWAYS a winner with Allegra!).
There was colouring-in fun and the chance to measure your height in hands (as if you were Buster the horse!).
And of course, there was the screening, where we got to watch three of the Childs Farm cartoons that are part of the new Cartoonito series and eat rather a lot of popcorn!
Both girls really enjoyed the cartoons, which follow the adventures of the farmyard animals that live on Childs Farm. There’s Radar the dog, Truffles the pig (my personal favourite!), Bella the goat, Buster the pony (Allegra’s favourite!), Peggy the duck (I think probably Claudia’s favourite – she’s in to ducks at the moment!), Mimi the mouse and Old Red the tractor – all beautifully true to the original designs on the Childs Farm packaging, which gives the animation a really lovely almost homespun feel that is really charming. Each story aims to convey a positive message about friendship and teamwork.
We were very lucky to be gifted some great goody bags as a thank-you for coming along to the event and were delighted to be heading back to Richmond with some brand new Childs Farm products to put to the test: Get un-knotted! hair detangler (much needed for pain-free brushing of Allegra’s hair!); Quick dip! 3 in 1 for hair-to-toe after swim care; and Get Soaked! bubble bath (which we’re already devoted fans of!). All three products are available exclusively from Boots and as is the case for all Childs Farm products they are dermatologically tested and approved, suitable for eczema prone skin, paediatrican approved and suitable for newborns and upwards.
Amongst the other goodies gifted to us by Childs Farm was a red baseball hat, which Allegra has taken a MASSIVE liking to and has been sporting more or less ever since – back-to-front or worn slightly to one side a bit Flavor Flav stylee… not sure if I should be worried or not…
