I’ve just read a post of the same name over on one of my favourite blogs – The Bottom of the Ironing Basket – that the fabulous Simone (whose blog I always find wonderfully escapist and inspiring) wrote after being inspired by the May 2013 issue of Red magazine, which carries a feature of the same name. It was a fun read and it got me thinking about my own “I’ve nevers”, so I thought I’d write mine down and share them too! Here goes:
Don’t Judge Me But I Have Never…
watched a full episode of “The Office”
liked the taste or texture of celery
owned or wanted to own a dog
understood why “The Wire” was so popular
been to an IMAX Cinema
wanted to go to Glastonbury or any other music festival
been anywhere in Scotland other than Edinburgh (and that was only for work!)
liked Earl Grey tea
had anything pierced other than my ears
jumped off a boat into the sea
had blonde hair
watched “Downton Abbey”
had a gym membership (or wanted to!)
Skype-d
been to Australia
been the first to leave a party
worn leather trousers
eaten an oyster
drunk a can of Dr Pepper
made a snow angel
willingly jumped in a muddy puddle
supported a football team
learnt how to dive
been speed-dating
hung a picture (but I would like to learn)
experienced going into labour and giving birth naturally
drunk a glass of milk (as an adult)
been hypnotised
liked the film “Dirty Dancing”
been into our loft
had short hair (apart from when I was a baby/child and it was growing!)
had a perm or done anything vaguely experimental with my hair
liked Hershey’s chocolate (it can’t just be me who thinks it tastes like vomit?!)
stuck to a ‘morning after’ “I’ll never drink again” declaration
had a tattoo
properly read the instructions to any new gadget I’ve ever owned
found Robbie Williams attractive
responded well to criticism, even constructive, even over the smallest thing
enjoyed Notting Hill Carnival (went once under duress, never again!)
liked sand (the most annoying thing about a day at the beach!)
Fancy sharing your own I have nevers now? – go visit the original post and add yours π
Voting for the BiBs 2013 has opened and this time, I’m putting aside my pride and going for some straight-out asking: if this blog has ever entertained you, touched you (not in an inappropriate way obvs…), or made you smile, then I would love it if you would vote for me in the BiBs – the Family and/or Laugh categories would be great, thanking you.
I am totally with you on Downton, Hershey’s and the sand! In fact I’m pretty phobic of sand… gives me panic attacks ha!
Kindred spirits obvs! Ugh sand, shudder…
Definitely the WORST part of any holiday! Haha!
You’re so right!
Loved this! You learn so much about folks from what they haven’t done (nearly as much as what they have). Same about Robbie and no tattoo. I actually love constructive criticism especially when it’s good, I couldn’t be a screenwriter/ director if I didn’t but I think it doesn’t faze me as I’m used to it and its part of the creative process of what I do. It can be a good thing. X
Thank you π yes it was a fun one to think about and write, so a big thanks to The Bottom of the Ironing basket for the inspiration. I wish I could take constructive criticism better, I agree it is a necessary thing sometimes, but I think I’m such a perfectionist that if anyone does offer some “suggestions” I take it all too personally, despite myself! Must try harder not to! π xx
Laughing out loud at the loft one!
And nodding my head in agreement at the Notting Hill Carnival one…
Who knows what’s above my house?! I’ll never know that’s for sure… And yes, Notting Hill Carnival, shudder. Glad you agree! x
I tried hard, really hard, bit to judge!!!!! I found it a little difficult with the “Dirty Dancing and Dog” comments. Then from nowhere, out of the blue, came the one I couldn’t let go!!!! Mr Robert Williams!!!! I feel the need to log my disappointment in you!!!! I shall take out the full force of my angry when we challenge you at karaoke next week!!!!!! Bring it π
Hahaha allow me to explain… I love other people’s dogs, just never had the desire to own one myself. Surely it’s a good thing I don’t fancy Robbie Williams – leaves the way open for you?! And Dirty Dancing… Well yes, no excuse on that one, I just think it’s crap – I do like the music though if that helps?! Can’t wait for karaoke next week – bring it!! π xx
I challenge you to watch one episode of Downton… It’s totally up your strata. Hope we’re getting a visit soon xxx
Right, I will take up the challenge – but you must watch True Blood, it is awesome you’d love it (maybe). A visit yes soon, will plan to swing by in the next few weeks π xxx
Oh my, so many on here for me too… esp. Notting Hill Carnival, sand, criticism, drinking, The Office, Glastonbury, tattoo, instructions, hersheys… I have however, skyped. I also wore leather trousers once but they belonged to my mother and once was enough. I am quite partial to Downton (think you would like too, I will send the boxset) and I was blonde for a short while in my 20’s but never speak of it π
Aaah yet more ways in which we are alike π ok ok I’ll give Downton a shot x
I LOVE reading this!!! I am with you on a lot of them actually, I need another list!!
Hersheys chocolate….SO agree, US chocolate is rubbish in general to be honest I think, leather trousers…me neither, never Skyped, never watched a whole episode of “The Office” either, that’s a good one, I thought I was the only person in the UK who hadn’t!!!
Love the not being able to take criticism part….I don’t think you’re alone there, just more honest than the rest of us π
Thank you so much for the very very nice comments about my blog, that’s very kind of you π
Don’t know if you’ve read the original piece in Red mag….someone whose name escapes me but who is quite famous, said that their thing was that they’d never drunk tea….how is that even possible??!!
A very fun post π
Happy Easter!!
Thx for popping by and for your lovely comment – glad I’m not alone on some of those. I loved reading yours and enjoyed putting my own list together.
Tea… How IS that even possible?!?
Happy Easter to you too xxx
No milk? Really? And not having been in the loft made me laugh a lot! As Michael MacIntyre says, there are probably loft girls up there, parading around in the clothes that don’t fit you anymore. π

Sounds like it might be time for tattoos, peroxide and piercings!?! At a festival. Obviously. π Loved reading this. xx
You could well be right…! x
